Properly applied rubber lining will resist vacuum in the order of m bars. Shop-vulcanized rubber linings generally have a better resistance to vacuum than in situ vulcanized ones. Rubber-lined equipment should not be stored in extreme temperature conditions, such as below 0°C or above 49°C. Avoid sudden changes in temperature.

These test methods cover procedures used to evaluate the tensile (tension) properties of vulcanized thermoset rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers. These methods are not applicable to ebonite and similar hard, low elongation materials.

The methods appear as follows: #N#Test Method A—Dumbbell and Straight Section Specimens. Specific test methods, on the other hand, shall be performed to determine specific rubber polymers present in a rubber product such as crude, unvulcanized, reclaimed, and vulcanized rubbers.

This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. Chapter “Rubber Compound and Vulcanizate Testing” is related to the chapter on “Rubber Raw Material Testing” and provides a comprehensive description of the system of testing rubber compounds, materials and vulcanizates, starting from sampling and testing vessels up to evaluation of test results according to specific standards.

for testing: (1) specimens of vulcanized rubber cut from standard sheets (see Practice D ), (2) specimens cut from fabric coated with vulcanized rubber (see Test Methods D ), or (3) finished articles of commerce (see Practice D ). This test method is not applicable to the testing of cellular rubbers, porous compositions, and File Size: KB.

Tensile testing is the most common method employed to determine the mechanical strength of an object. It involves the application of uniaxial force to measure the performance of a test specimen, up to the point of it yielding or breaking, whether sharply or gradually.

In simple terms, it is pulling something apart in a straight line and seeing how it changes.
